A dose that keeps going up. Then a second tablet. Then the words: it's for life.

Every morning, the monitor. Every appointment, the same fear: what if they add yet another one? What if the stroke comes anyway?

And the question almost nobody dares to ask: where does your blood pressure come from?

Men and women who write down their BP every morning like a school report. And who can feel that something isn't right, despite a decent reading.

Blood pressure monitor and a box of tablets in the bathroom

The blood pressure monitor next to the tablet box: a ritual almost nobody questions.

That's why your treatment, however well taken, only deals with part of the problem.

Your treatment controls the number. Not your arteries.

Ramipril relaxes the vessels by blocking a hormone that tightens them. Amlodipine relaxes the muscular wall of the arteries so the blood passes more easily. Losartan and candesartan do something similar by another route, and bisoprolol slows and calms the heart.

That's their role, and they protect many people.

But none of them deals with what is wearing out your arteries. They control the number, not the arteries. And many people pay for it: the dry cough, the swollen ankles, the tiredness, the flat libido. Some end up deciding their tablets are the least bad option.

That's why we so often see people who have taken their tablet every morning for years, have a reading the GP is happy with, are still tired, and dread the next step: a higher dose, a second tablet, or worse, the stroke or heart attack they've been warned about.

So what is really happening in your arteries?

Why your reading is “fine” while your arteries keep wearing out

Artery narrowed by cholesterol and calcium deposits
Artery narrowed by plaque
Healthy, flexible artery with blood flowing freely
Flexible artery, free-flowing blood

Imagine that the tiredness, the dizziness, the breathlessness, the cold hands and even the dose going up all had the same cause: something happening in the arteries themselves, which almost nobody talks about when they only look at the blood pressure monitor.

Surprising? Yet that's what current research suggests. You were given a tablet, not a cause. Here is a serious lead.

Your heart sends blood around your whole body through the arteries: oxygen, nutrients, everything each organ needs.

As long as these arteries are clear, they work like a brand-new garden hose: flexible, and the water gets where it needs to go.

Blood then flows without effort, the heart doesn't have to push hard, and blood pressure stays calm. You don't even feel it.

Arteries like a garden hose

What very few people know…

From around age 50, often earlier, a slow process starts in the arteries. And it happens every day.

1) The inner wall of the arteries becomes rough, and cholesterol sticks to it.

Salt, processed fats and preservatives irritate the thin inner layer of the arteries, a little each day, for decades. The irritated wall doesn't stay smooth, it becomes rough. And cholesterol sticks to these rough areas, layer after layer.

2) Limescale builds up on the cholesterol.

By limescale, we mean calcium, the stuff your bones are made of. Except here, it ends up in the wrong place: it attaches to the cholesterol inside the artery and makes the wall thicker and harder. Over the years, it forms a rigid area, and the passage narrows more and more.

Doctors call these deposits of cholesterol and calcium plaque.

Together, these two processes make the arteries narrower and harder. With three consequences:

The passage narrows. An artery thickened by plaque lets less blood through, like a furred-up pipe. Less blood reaches the muscles, the legs, the brain: hence the tiredness, the cold hands and the shortness of breath.

The wall loses its flexibility. A rigid artery no longer adapts to each heartbeat. The blood is pushed against a hard wall, and the pressure rises, like in a pipe that no longer gives.

The vicious circle keeps itself going. The heart has to pump harder against narrower vessels, which batters the wall even more. Blood pressure goes up, the wall wears out further, and the passage narrows again. That's why it gets a little worse every year, and never sorts itself out.

This is what most blood pressure problems in men and women over 55 come down to (in women, blood pressure also often climbs after the menopause, when the arteries stiffen). And also the dizziness and breathlessness that people prefer not to mention to the doctor, because at your age, it's normal. Because for all of that, you need flexible arteries with enough blood passing through.

Why blood pressure rises with age

What you really need to do

From what research shows, you therefore need two things at the same time:

One: clear the arteries again.

Make them as they naturally were when you were younger: flexible, permeable, well supplied with blood. Blood then flows effortlessly again, and the pressure has no reason to rise.

Two: relieve the heart that pumps against narrowed vessels.

At 55, your heart has often been working for years against ever-narrowing vessels. The muscle cells that do this work need energy, and less and less of it arrives with age. It's no coincidence that so many people on treatment complain of being tired despite a good reading.

For years, the message has been that with blood pressure, you just have to learn to live with it.

Less salt, more walking, a few kilos off, and maybe even garlic or beetroot already. All of that is useful. But if you've already tried everything and it isn't enough, that's not your fault: it's not everything you can do.

Because the deposits already in the arteries don't disappear just because you eat less salt, processed fat and preservatives from today. They're already there, and that's where you need to act.

Naturally supporting your arteries, simply from home

The FAITH study asked whether narrowed, calcified arteries can be supported naturally. Twelve months of follow-up at the LA Biomedical Research Institute at Harbor-UCLA, in California, with Dr Matthew Budoff, a UCLA cardiologist, among its authors.

Double-blind: neither the participants nor the researchers knew who was getting the real product. Placebo-controlled: a comparison group took capsules with no active ingredient.

At the heart of the study: a natural substance prized for thousands of years, aged garlic. Combined with a second active, coenzyme Q10 in the form of ubiquinol.

The result impressed us: after twelve months, the group taking aged garlic and CoQ10 together had measurably more flexible arteries than the placebo group.

Not according to how the participants felt, nor from an indirect lab value. Flexibility was measured directly with clinical instruments, and the study was reviewed and published by fellow doctors.

What struck us is that it wasn't garlic alone or CoQ10 alone being tested, but the combination of the two.

Then we came across a third element that hardly anyone talks about: vitamin K2 MK-7. You've probably heard of garlic and CoQ10. Yet it's K2 that many arteries are missing.

Put simply: vitamin K2 is a bit like the traffic controller for calcium in your body. Calcium has no sat-nav. K2 activates the proteins that lock it into the bones and keep it from sticking to the walls. Without enough K2, calcium doesn't know where to go: into the bones, or into the next artery wall?

In a three-year clinical study in the Netherlands, carried out by a Maastricht University team in women after the menopause, 180 µg (micrograms) of vitamin K2 MK-7 a day supported artery flexibility.

For us, the picture was then complete:

  • The S-allyl cysteine (SAC) of aged garlic acts on the artery wall, in the reverse order to the one in which the damage formed: first the calcium, then the cholesterol, then the irritation. SAC helps clear the passage so that blood flows more freely.
  • The CoQ10 ubiquinol supplies energy to the heart muscle, which has been pumping for years against narrowed vessels.
  • The vitamin K2 MK-7 directs calcium towards the bones rather than the next artery wall.
The 3 actives in NATI+ Aged Garlic

In our view, it's the most coherent combination that research shows today. It just had one problem.

At the pharmacy, we found no product combining all three actives at the doses used in the studies: most garlic supplements are under-dosed or not aged at all, CoQ10 is often the cheap form, and K2 MK-7 is almost never combined with the other two.

We know what you're thinking: supplements are often just business. We thought the same. That's why we only trust what's measured: a double-blind study, doses printed on the label, garlic aged 20 months and standardised in SAC.

To follow the research, you therefore had to buy three boxes, adjust the doses, and keep it up for months. Most people can't manage it, and we don't blame them.

Then we discovered NATI+: a company that had quietly worked on exactly this combination, and that has its supplements made batch by batch, each batch ageing 20 months.

We examined the formula, the dosage and the label: all three actives are there, at doses based on the studies mentioned above.

Introducing NATI+ Aged Garlic

A person with NATI+ Aged Garlic

NATI+ Aged Garlic is a food supplement built precisely on this combination: aged garlic extract, CoQ10 ubiquinol and vitamin K2 MK-7, at doses based on clinical studies in men and women.

  • Aged garlic extract (1,200 mg), standardised in S-allyl cysteine (SAC), acts on the artery wall: for clear vessels, normal blood pressure and a less strained heart.
  • CoQ10 ubiquinol (100 mg) supplies the energy your heart muscle needs to pump against narrowed vessels.
  • 180 µg of vitamin K2 MK-7 direct calcium away from the arteries and towards the bones: both the new calcium from your diet and the limescale detached from the walls.

Your arteries are thus supported on three fronts at once. And that's what matters in the long term.

Here, we're dealing with what the tablet doesn't touch.

Two capsules at breakfast. That's all.

What people who have tried it say
